As he did for the Gators during his freshman season in 2006, Perry ran the third leg for Team USA as the Americans crossed the finish line in 39.21. The American squad was Jeneba Tarmoh, Alexandria Anderson, Elizabeth Olear and Gabby Mayo. Sources used UF Athletics and Dyestat.com Mayo takes the podium stand twice alone Beljing, China - Gabby Mayo 2nd in the 100, 5th in the 200 only a rising senior at Southeast Raleigh was the only North Carolina athlete to step up on the podium stand at the World Junior Games 2006 in Beljing this week. Mayo ran too 11.42 in the 100-meters and 23.84 in the 200 meters. Other highlights from the meet were Patience Coleman, who came in the meet ranked in the top 6, but failed to medal. Willie Perry ran to 21.47 but didn't make the finals. Surprise!! Surprise!! Willie Perry is back in action? Beljing, China - Former W.Caldwell standout in 2005, Willie Perry appeared to be done to the Team USA coaching staff, after pulling up in yesterdays 100m semifinals. Perry confirmed that it was just a slight cramp to the USA coaches, do to dehydration. In Day 3 early morning rounds Perry proved that statement, by cruising through the tape in 21.11, still making him a gold medal contender in the meet. Gabby Mayo also quilfy for the semifinals in the 200, winning heat 5 in 23.62 over Poland's Klocek Ewelina 23.69.

Beljing, China - Tezdzhan Naimova of Bulgaria was at least even at the start and proceeded to pull away from the field to win in an impressive in 11.28 into a 0.8 meter per second wind. Carrie Russell of Jamaica picked up quickly after 20 meters and by the halfway point looked like she would give Naimova a race. Practically unnoticed out in lane eight was Gabby Mayo of the U.S. and Southeast High in Raleigh, North Carolina, who, despite being the second fastest junior in the world, had the slowest semifinal time. Mayo got into contention by the halfway point, continued to drive to the finish and just edged Russell for second with both runners being credited with 11.42. Alexandria Anderson of the U.S. and Texas , the No. 1 ranked junior in the world, was out with the leaders but began to drift back by the halfway point and just lost out to Asha Philip of Great Britain, for fourth, 11.48 to 11.49.
